The basics
Osceola County and local water utilities limit landscape irrigation to specific days and times. The standard framework allows watering only before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m., on assigned days that differ between daylight saving time and Eastern Standard Time. The exact days depend on your address and water provider — always confirm with your utility for the current schedule.
What this means for your system
Your controller has to match the rules. Old mechanical timers often run every day at whatever hour they were set a decade ago — that is the most common violation we see. When we install or service a system, we program the controller to your legal watering days and times, so compliance is automatic.
Restrictions are a reason to upgrade, not a reason to worry
Two watering days a week is plenty for a healthy Florida lawn if the system covers evenly and runs long enough. Brown spots during restriction season are almost always a coverage or run-time problem, not a water-allowance problem. A tune-up that fixes head alignment and zone timing usually solves it.
